During the heavy rain yesterday there was a lot of run off from saturated land and this caused flooding across the A372 in several places. There was concern that run off from the road and/or from overflowing ditches might flow onto the drives of a small number of properties on High Street with the potential to approach low fitted doors. Given the forecast for further rain, as a reassurance measure, David Mayor, our Parish Council Chairman, requested a delivery of Sandbags to two properties with some additional bags to be available if required. SSDC responded very quickly.
Some sandbags were left outside the Pound and two packs of the lighter blue bags with contents that react with water were left in the Dutch Barn at the Rec. There are only a couple of dozen and they are small and light whilst dry.
