Somerset Levels & Moors – 20 Year Flood Action Plan

South Somerset District Council is hosting a public meeting for residents and business owners to provide reassurance and information on flooding as the winter approaches:
Date: Monday 24th November 2014
Time: 7-9pm (arrivals from 6.30)

Venue: Huish Episcopi Academy – 6th Form Auditorium, Wincanton Road, Langport TA10 9SS

The meeting will include:
  • A talk on the Environment Agency’s Trigger Points document explaining what, when and why operational decisions would be taken locally in extraordinary flood conditions 
  • A look at the work of the Flood Action Plan, with a particular focus on projects affecting local highways; on repairs to river banks and pumping stations; dredging and more; and news about the proposed Somerset Rivers Authority 
  • An opportunity to talk to people involved in community flood plans, insurance issues, local flood protection measures and services which support communities during times of flooding. 
The meeting is hosted by South Somerset District Council, on behalf of the partnership supporting the Flood Action Plan including Somerset County Council and the Environment Agency.
