The Environment Agency is completing these works on behalf of the Somerset Rivers Authority (SRA). Phase 1 and 2 we believe are to be completed without full road closure but with a traffic light system to control the traffic and make it safe for people to work.
Small scale site preparations have started this week whilst final approvals are granted before larger scale machinery moves in to start the main works.
The Beer Wall project is funded as part of £8m over three years through the Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) Growth Deal money secured by the SRA. Further work to enhance the wider River Sowy/ Kings Sedgemoor Drain (KSD) system capacity, will take place over the next three years after Phase 3 is complete.
A public meeting will be held later in the year on the wider River Sowy / Kings Sedgemoor Drain scheme option and future operations.
